SPLICE is, as of June 2010, now the top picture I saw this year; and bearing in mind the trend of infomercial movies; it probably will still by December. You probably do not remember Vicenzo Natali. He made by 1997 a splendid horror movie called CUBE which has a number of USA distribution; and soon after another sci-fi adventure movie called CYPHER (very lovely movie but as far as I know when straight to DVD in USA). He made a couple more things but nothing like a blockbuster. Currently he is back and in exceptional form. SPLICE’s trailers try to reveal an horror movie but it really must be considered a sci-fi one. There are some very tense moments and a few bloody ones but it is far from horror, unless you consider our own inner madness something terrifying (well, we really should).
