Aren’t they making these types of shots by citizens illegal in France?

I believe so, at least technically. It’s something I’m looking into

I don’t have the full facts yet. However, it was the first time I have ever been asked to show my press card. Therer were A LOT of people with cameraphones and video cameras and the like. It would be impossible to police if this is what the law says.

Alsthough, IF this is what the law says, then you could potentially imprison folk after the fact. But, like i say I haven’t looked into it properly yet.

i got all the photos and videos i took yesterday on my camphone deleted by a policeman who told me he would arrest if he ever saw me doing again. I don’t know if he had the right to erase the photos, i should see about that.

  5. noodlepie says:

Interesting Mo. I *think* the police officer wanted to erase my camera, but I showed him the press card. He double checked it and let me go. If you do follow this up, can you post a comment here or email me. I’m very interested to know how the French enforce, or not, this new law and just how enforcable it is during and after any "act of citizen journalism". More on the law here (make sure to read the comments),

Re: the specific events of yesterday, there’s very little on the blogs that I’ve found. Just a couple of posts here,

  6. Adam Kuban says:

Interesting. Although erasing your memory card would do little if you were shooting with a mobile phone and uploading somewhere (like, I don’t know, Flickr?) almost instantly.

  7. noodlepie says:

Good point, Shozu would get around this on a cameraphone.

  8. mo's says:

Well i learned how to do the uploading on the fly today (a little bit too late) just in case.

i don’t think i’m going to follow it up in any way (i have no evidence of what happened whatsoever).
