The Unknown Man Autobiography by a Failure in Almost Everything Except Living Life to the Fullest

Life has no chapters…nor does this book. It is by, and about, a man I know but little for, as you will learn, he is somewhat unique for his massive collection of monumental mistakes. Though now and then he has found success in ways most amazing to him. Be that as it may, this book represents an autobiographical journey of amazing scope with more excitement than one expects.
From the very first page…”I was born very young….never knew (my father) and mother would not talk of him…go figure!” to the last page where you’ll find “A few days after my return (from Rome) while wandering…in Raton, one of the city’s quietly influential businessmen stopped me…(and said), ‘Tell me Bill, just who are you? We can’t find out anything about you.’
“I was nonplussed…for I’m not really certain who I am.”
And between those two pages is this unusual autobiography by a failure in almost everything except living life to the fullest. Which includes dodging bullets bouncing off overhead rocks in Southern California; motorcycling to Panama; boating along England’s canals; chatting with Jacques Chirac, soon to become the President of France (1995-2007); publishing well over 100 books and three newspapers; losing his shirt; owning a transportation service; dinners at Maxim’s in Paris; bowls of rice in back streets of Guangzhou; from dishwasher to magazine photographer in two years; picturing a 17-year-old $ 20 model who became Marilyn Monroe; enjoying romance in Switzerland and wondering where a wife of five months spent the evening; coping with the simultaneous death of three friends; designing and building a do-it-yourself home; waking one morning unable to speak clearly when Lymes hit; being lost in jungles of southern Mexico and found on the streets of New York; valuing a government education on an island commanded by an Admiral; honoring the CIA request for a special report; conferencing at Interpol offices in Paris; declining a bribe followed by weeks of a comforting 24-hour police escort; driving from Alaska to Brazil; producing documentary videos and never really having a steady job for nearly 60 years.
There’s 237 pages detailing this strange life in The Unknown Man by William Carroll. ISBN 978-0910390-77-4 $ 25 Paperback, 6″ by 9″, from Ingram, Amazon, or Coda Publications, P.O. Box 71, Raton, New Mexico 87740 U.S.A.
