I think regardless of who is techinically superior, i wasn’t aware Slash spent his time playing Bumblefoot’s material. I think there probably should be at least a little bit of deference to the man who wrote the guitar parts (and solos) for GNRs best songs, including this one above.
In saying that, this is a nice version of the song. It helps that this is one of the few songs Axl can sing just like the old days.
@alexdmni Slash can’t even think about playing Bumblefoot’s material. He is getting confused…lol. Slash is probably one of the most over rated guitar player in the world, technically! Very famous for his style, hat and as a character, but technically not impressive!
@Pop2Lock Alexdmni is right! Slash was great in his own time, but he didn’t evoluate that much. The actual members of GNR are awesome and technically far above Slash. By the way, Ashba isn’t trying to be Slash… for sure he has been inspired by him, but he already had his own style before joining GNR. Just look at him in Sixx AM and you’ll see, he still the same! I know the truth is hard to accept for Slash’s dick lickers, but truth is the truth! GNR is mind blowing, even without Slash…

I mean, people like Paul Gilbert and John Petrucci have said in interviews how much they had been impressed by his instrumental album. Joe Satriani himself recommanded Ron to Axl. I mean, last time I’ve checked, 99.99% of guitarists couldn’t play Bumblefoot’s hardest solo material so…

@Pop2Lock It’s people like you that ruin the rock/metal scene. Soul has nothing to do with what Slash does. And being a blues based guitarist has nothing to do with it. I saw Slash’s WTTJ, Myles shits all over that song. Slash plays with out of tune bends and plays the same scale for 20 years….I guess that’s soul now. Bumblefoot isnt “fast” he is a virtuoso, which means he can play basically anything at any speed. He has no limitations….unlike Slash. And Ashba plays just as well Slash.
