    A ‘real’ photo if ever there was one! I don’t think it is about buttons – there are plently around already. The middle Frenchman looks to be pointing and the left-hand Frenchman looks to be curling his fist for an uppercut!

    The prisoners have certainly been through the s**t and look dog-tired.

    PS – worthy of a caption competition? Frenchman to German: "Get into line, you "Salle Bosche" or my friend will smack you one!"

    German to Frenchman: "See you in 1940, mein freund…"

    Yes, the caption is clearly made up, the publisher romanticly maximizing the casual circumstance of the hand seeming to hover in front of the subofficer’s jacket.
